Sixteen people were injured when a train derailed at Elandsfontein station in Boksburg‚ Ekurhuleni‚ on Tuesday afternoon.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said paramedics arrived on the scene about 4.19pm and found that three carriages of a train had derailed.
The 16 occupants sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were transported to hospital.
It is unclear what caused the derailment.
