A 63-year-old Limpopo man is alleged to have stabbed a love rival half his age to death at the weekend.

William Mafokwane, 28, was apparently attacked in Senita village, outside Mokopane, on Sunday. The two had an argument over a woman before the attack happened. Mafokwane died of his stab wounds in hospital on Monday.

Police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the 63-year-old had fled to Gauteng after the incident.

"We have received information that the suspect in this murder case has since fled to Tembisa and a manhunt has been launched for him," Ngoepe said.

Mafokwane was stabbed with a knife in the back, allegedly by the older man. He was then rushed to a local clinic from where he was transferred to hospital.

According to the deceased's sister, Sarah Mafokwane, the suspect had visited their home earlier on Sunday looking for her brother.

"The man was so angry that he threatened to wipe out the whole family if we did not tell him where my brother was."

She said the man claimed that the deceased had kicked him in his chin when he found him on his donkey cart.

"He told us that he was going to kill my brother wherever he found him. We did not believe it until we received a call from a fellow villager that my brother had been stabbed with a knife.

"I rushed to the scene and found my brother lying on the ground. He was still breathing and tried to raise his head as if he wanted to say something to me but had no strength. I could see he was going to die."

Mafokwane said the woman in question was her brother's baby mama.

The deceased's mother, Jekina Mafokwane, 50, said when her son returned home and was informed about the man looking for him he told them he had argued with the man over a woman.
