A Port Elizabeth principal‚ who was allegedly smacked in the face with a glass jug by one of his teachers‚ will appear alongside her in court on Tuesday after they laid assault complaints against each other.

The incident alleged occurred after the teacher was accused of arriving late.

Promptness seems to be a problem at the city's schools.

Last month‚ local newspaper the Herald reported that‚ at another school‚ the principal posted a notice in the pupils’ books informing them the school gates will be locked at 8am‚ not allowing any late pupils on the premises without prior arrangements.

The school said the measure came as a result of continuous tardiness.
