Two men accused of the brutal murder and rape of a Soweto woman briefly appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Tsotang Mokgethi‚ 38‚ and Jackson Alofeyo‚ 34‚ stand accused of killing Lerato Moloi.

The two were allegedly Moloi’s drinking buddies.

Her half naked body was found in an open veld. Moloi‚ popularly known as Tambai‚ was last seen at a tavern where she drank with friends the night before her body was discovered.

Two big rocks were placed on her upper body. She was among four women whose bodies were found in open veld in May.

Dozens of members of the Lesbian‚ Gay‚ Transgender‚ Bisexual‚ Intersex (LGTBI) community chanted outside the court demanding that the men be kept behind bars.

LGBTI community member Ntsupe Mohapi‚ 44‚ said she was not happy that the case was postponed.

“We are not happy with these postponements. We want justice. We believe that this is a hate crime because of the way she was murdered‚” she said.

The case was postponed to next month for further investigation.
