A group of lions‚ which escaped from the Kruger National Park have attacked some cattle‚ the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency said on Tuesday.

“Our team as well as the police are on the scene‚ where at least one of the lions is said to have attacked the cattle in the area‚” said spokesperson Kholofelo Nkambule.

The search for the pride of lions started on Monday.

Weather conditions were hampering the recovery efforts.

“It is rather rainy and misty in the area at the moment but we could later dispatch a helicopter‚” said Nkambule.

Meanwhile‚ police officers warned residents in nearby villages and motorists travelling in the area to be cautious.
