A two-year-old Durban boy has died after being electrocuted in the Sea Cow Lake area on Wednesday.

The boy was playing near illegal electricity connections in an informal settlement‚ according to KZN Emergency Medical Service spokesman Robert McKenzie.

“Paramedics from the KZN Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services‚ responded to the scene‚ after the child’s grandmother had found the child lying lifeless outside their dwelling‚” he said.

“The paramedics‚ who had to pass by several illegal connections and wires to get to the house‚ found that tragically the child had been electrocuted and had already demised by the time they arrived at the scene.”

SAPS is investigating the incident.
