Johannesburg motorists travelling south on the M1 highway have been delayed by a burning bus.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed that a bus went up in flames near the highway’s Jan Smuts exit on Sunday morning.
“It is causing delays as all lanes going south have been blocked off.”
It is not yet clear what caused the fire‚ Minnaar said.
“There were no passengers on the bus. The driver is fine‚” he said.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
