The suspension of the car driven by Preshalin Naidoo‚ the man accused of causing a collision in which Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere and a friend was killed‚ was in a “compromised” state.

This was according to Stanley Bezuidenhout‚ an accident reconstruction expert who was giving evidence on the report he compiled on the accident scene where Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan died.

Mhere and O’Bryan‚ who was a passenger in the car Mhere was driving‚ died on the scene of the accident on William Nicol Drive in Fourways‚ Johannesburg‚ on January 31‚ 2015.

Bezuidenhout‚ a defence witness told the court on Monday that when he examined Naidoo’s car‚ he found its suspension to be compromised.

“When the left front lower control... was physically examined‚it was found that it was only hand tightened.

“The suspenion components in the vehicle were in a compromised state and these components indicate a problem that could have existed‚” Bezuidenhout said.

Naidoo‚ 24‚ is on trial in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court‚ where he is facing charges of culpable homicide. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. — TMG Digital
