Policeman and his metro cop brother in court for Eldos shooting

A police officer and his brother‚ who is a metro police officer‚ are behind bars after they allegedly shot at their mother’s neighbours in Eldorado Park‚ Johannesburg‚ at the weekend.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar‚ of the JMPD‚ said one person was killed in the incident.

It is alleged a crowd of people wanted to attack their mother’s house and damage the police officer’s car following an argument between the mother and her neighbour‚ said Minnaar.

The police officer shot and killed one person.

He was arrested and charged for murder.

“He will be appearing in the Protea Magistrate’s Court today‚” said Minnaar.

The JMPD officer will appear in the Kliptown Magistrate’s Court where he will face a charge of discharging a firearm in a municipal area.

“(He) will also be investigated internally for having used a service pistol while he was off duty‚” said Minnaar.
