The Chinese Association‚ Gauteng‚ will hand over a complaint in Johannesburg on Thursday to the South African Human Rights Commission after social media comments it regards as “racist and inflammatory“.

The comments were made in connection with the broadcast on January 29 of a Carte Blanche TV programme on animal abuse and the trade in donkey skins and the Chinese New Year celebration in Johannesburg on January 28.

According to the association‚ the comments incite violence and harm against Chinese people and their children in South Africa.

72% of South Africans report no personal experience of racism: IRRRace relations in the country — despite worsening economic conditions‚ high unemployment‚ poor education‚ and inequalities — remain generally sound.

The comments‚ lifted by the association from the Karoo Donkey Sanctuary‚ Carte Blanche and the Chinese New Year Facebook pages‚ include:

“They are the most despicable things on this planet!! I hate the chings!!!”

“I’m disgusted at your fireworks display… may your new year bring to you all the

horror and death…“

“I think we should start killing their children for cure for the common babalaas!”

“Personaly I say wipe them out – I’d be the first to be there.”

“There are no more disgusting humans than Chinese people. I wish they all just

die. Every single one. I hate them and I will never change my mind.”

“…Can we not stop these slant eyed freaks from coming into the

country?!”
