A young man died of a gunshot wound on Friday at a water treatment plant in Rosettenville‚ Johannesburg.

Paramedics received a call from the “local authorities” for medical assistance‚ ER24 said in a statement.

It is understood that the man had been chased by the “local authorities” after an alleged hijacking‚ ER24 said.

Numerous “enforcement officers” and a police helicopter were on the scene when the paramedics arrived at the plant. They were instructed to be on stand-by but at a safe distance.

ER24 said that after a short time‚ the paramedics were called into a building where they found the body of the man‚ believed to be in his 20s.

“Local authorities” will be conducting an investigation into the matter.
