Best Christmas ever - Cape Town man joins list of millionaires thanks to Lotto

A Cape Town man has joined the list of millionaires just days before Christmas after winning the Lotto Plus jackpot worth R21.6 million‚ national lottery operator Ithuba announced on Friday.

The man‚ who won the jackpot on December 17‚ visited Ithuba offices to claim his winnings that will change his life forever.

“You have no idea what kind of a huge difference this will make to my life and that of my family”‚ the winner told Ithuba when asked what winning the jackpot meant to him.

The man‚ who wants to remain anonymous‚ has been playing the lottery for many years and had never won anything before‚ though he had been always hopeful.

He spent just R30 on his winning Quick Pick ticket at Kenilworth Racing‚ Retreat Mall‚ Cape Town.

After discovering that he had won‚ the winner kept his winning ticket in his wallet and only confided in his son about the windfall.

The winner‚ who in his fifties‚ plans to invest most of the money to provide a better future of his children.

“Education is important to me and with these winnings‚ I will be able to provide the best education for my children”‚ the winner said.

He is also planning towards his retirement‚ and the winner has always had a dream of running his own business. He plans to venture into business with the help of his winnings as capital.

Ithuba said it had provided the winner with financial advice and counselling to ensure that he has “all the knowledge‚ resources and advice” on how to cope with his new wealth. — TMG Digital
