KZN policewoman killed with pick handle in her home after argument

A Pietermaritzburg policewoman has been killed with a pick handle allegedly by her boyfriend after a domestic argument.

Sergeant Thabisile Phenelope Zondi‚ 41‚ who worked at the Plessislaer police station died on Saturday morning.

Police said the two had an argument at Zondi’s home in Scottsville where she was assaulted with a pick handle. She suffered injuries to her body and face.

 She succumbed to the injuries and died on the scene. Her swollen body was found in a pool of blood with multiple injuries to the face.

 A case of murder was opened at Alexander Police Station and a suspect was eventually arrested. He will appear in court on Monday facing charges of murder.

Acting Provincial Commissioner‚ Major General Bheki Langa‚ said he was shocked by the killing.
