AfriForum says it did not meet with police watchdog boss Robert McBride to plot against anyone — and may bring charges of perjury and defamation against Gauteng Hawks boss Major-General Prince Mokotedi for making the claim.

The organisation accused Mokotedi of “telling lies“.

Mokotedi has asked police to investigate allegations that AfriForum and McBride‚ head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID)‚ had a braai together and conspired against him and others.

Kallie Kriel‚ CEO of AfriForum‚ said that he and McBride have never met and that attempts to pretend that AfriForum had met with McBride and conspired with him‚ are devoid of all truth.

 Kriel accused Mokotedi of “telling lies because he is nervous after AfriForum and Paul O’Sullivan‚ a private investigator‚ published a report named Joining the dots: Capture of the criminal justice system“.

“Apparently it seems that desperate cats indeed make desperate leaps‚” Kriel said.

Kriel also said that his organisation will not be distracted by “dirty tricks”‚ and that AfriForum will continue to fight corruption and “expose the capture of the criminal justice system“.

According to Kriel‚ AfriForum’s legal team will study the affidavit that Mokotedi made to the police to consider complaints of perjury and defamation.

- Coincidentally‚ McBride also used a cat analogy yesterday in rebutting Mokotedi’s allegations.

McBride said he should be careful that “if you play with a cat‚ that the cat is not playing with you”.

He invited Mokotedi to a public polygraph test to prove the charges of treason‚ espionage and conspiracy to commit murder Mokotedi laid against him on Monday‚ saying there was no amount of smoke and mirrors that could change the truth.
