A 35-year-old constable stationed at Table Bay Harbour’s Sea Border Unit was shot and killed while he was on his way to report for duty on Monday morning.

The incident occurred at about 5.20 in Ngculu Street‚ Wallacedene‚ in Kraaifontein‚ spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Andrè Traut said.

“The member‚ who was dressed in civilian clothes over his uniform‚ succumbed on the scene and the suspect or suspects fled with his official firearm‚” he added.

 He said the Hawks are investigating the shooting and no arrests had yet been made.

“The Western Cape police are saddened by the loss of another colleague‚ and we vow to fight back at police killings with all our resources‚” Traut said.

 “Our deepest condolences are expressed to the relatives and friends of the fallen member.”
