Shocking CCTV footage has emerged of a family being hijacked in their driveway.

According to the Roodepoort Northsider‚ the incident happened on November 19 as the family of four were returning to their home in Constantia Kloof‚ Roodepoort.

In the footage‚ a red VW Golf pulls up behind the family as the driveway gate starts to close. Four men leap out of the car‚ rushing forward to stop the electric gate and forcing the family from the vehicle at gunpoint.

When the husband tries to defend his family‚ he is assaulted by the perpetrators. They then grab the woman’s handbag and speed off with the two vehicles.

The hijacking took just 90 seconds.

The Roodepoort Northsider reported that the vehicle was recovered in Alexandra less than an hour later. Honeydew police are investigating the incident.
