The pre-trial conference ahead of Henri van Breda’s court appearance for the murders of his parents and brother was postponed on Friday until November 18.
Prosecutor Susan Galloway told the Cape High Court that forensic evidence was outstanding‚ including computer and DNA evidence.
Van Breda’s first appearance in the Cape Town High Court lasted only a few minutes.
The 21-year-old was smartly dressed in a dark blue suit and had grown a beard since he was last seen at the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court in June.
Van Breda has been out on bail of R100‚000 since then‚ accused of murdering his millionaire father‚ Martin‚ his mother‚ Teresa‚ and his brother Rudi at the family home in Stellenbosch in January 2015.
He has also been charged with the attempted murder of his sister‚ Marli‚ and with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The killings happened at the family’s lavish De Zalze estate in Stellenbosch on January 26.
Van Breda handed himself over to the police in June.
According to the indictment‚ “an axe and kitchen knife [both from the Van Breda family home] were recovered from the scene“.
