Jason Rohde‚ the CEO of Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty‚ was arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with the death of his wife Susan.

He had met last week with police. It was agreed‚ said his lawyer Daniel Witz‚ that he would “voluntarily hand himself over” when they were ready to make an arrest.

But at 6:30am on Tuesday‚ several officers‚ some of them armed‚ arrived at his house in Bryanston‚ Johannesburg‚ and took him into custody.

“His three daughters were home‚’’ said Witz.

“The girls are quite traumatised .... He is still in shock and can’t understand why they went back on the agreement.”

Susan’s body was found in a bathroom at Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch on July 24.

She had accompanied Jason to a company function and they stayed over at the estate.

He had allegedly raised the alarm when he could not open their bathroom door.

Initially it was thought she had committed suicide but police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said an inquest docket was opened and their investigation changed to murder after a post mortem was performed.

Van Wyk would only say that a 47-year-old man was arrested before 7am in Johannesburg.

“He is due to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder‚” said Van Wyk.
