Information from community leads to drug bust

Western Cape police say that once again cooperation between the South African Police Service and the community has resulted in preventing drugs‚ which are killing people‚ from being sold on the streets.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said that swift response by police attached to Worcester SAPS to information about drug activities at a house in Zwelethemba‚ Worcester‚ has led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man.

“Police followed up on information received from the community and arrested the suspect this morning at 05:00. They confiscated an assortment of drugs: 24 straws of tik‚ 307 mandrax tablets and dagga parcels with an estimated street value of R17‚000‚” Rwexana said.

The suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges related to the possession of drugs.
