Don't let coalition talks sideline service delivery‚ says ANC

The ANC in Gauteng has called on municipalities still busy with post-election coalition negotiations to ensure that service delivery is not neglected.

“The provision of services to communities should continue as normal‚” spokesman Nkenke Kekana said.

He said in municipalities where the party received majority votes it would continue with its programme of radical socio-economic transformation.

These councils included the West Rand District Municipality‚ Merafong Local Municipality‚ Rand West City Local Municipality‚ Sedibeng District Municipality‚ Emfuleni Local Municipality and Lesedi Local Municipality.

Kekana said the party’s provincial executive committee was‚ however‚ concerned about the implications for service delivery in the City of Ekurhuleni‚ City of Joburg‚ City of Tshwane and Mogale City Local Municipality‚ where the ANC did not receive more than 50% of the votes.
