A group of men and a woman have robbed a dying motorist‚ whose body was ejected from a bakkie by the force of a collision in Durban.

Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa received multiple calls of a serious accident on the R102 between Verulam and Phoenix‚ north of Durban‚ at about 9.30am on Monday.

“An elderly Indian male‚ who died after being ejected from a bakkie‚ was robbed by a group of men and a woman. Several callers reported that the deceased’s body and vehicle was being searched and valuables stolen‚” said the company’s head Prem Balram.

He said the robbers fled upon hearing sirens.

“Upon arrival reaction officers and paramedics found that one person was deceased and a second sustained serious injuries after a white Toyota Hilux bakkie carrying metal rods veered off the road and overturned several times. The driver and passenger were thrown out of the vehicle‚” Balram said.
