Two school principals‚ who cannot be mentioned for their safety‚ told the commission that chiefs were behind the violent protests which led to over 20 schools being burned down.

One of them suggested to the commission that government should save the situation by taking Grade 12 learners to secret camps to prepare them for their final examinations.

“We not sure whether Grade 12 will write their examinations or not. There is no teaching and learning at the moment and there are no signs that classes will resume very soon. Infrastructure and all school records have been burnt‚” the principal told the hearing.

?The principal said the chiefs and community members who are in favour of the protests intimidated teachers and learners who wanted to return to school.
