Local free-to-air broadcaster e.tv has announced an exclusive deal with Disney to air the US giant’s content on their station.
The deal will see e.tv become the sole free-to-air broadcaster of Disney content from June 2016 and will give fans the chance to see some of their favourite Marvel and Disney movies when they are aired on the broadcaster each week.
“We are very thrilled about this relationship with Disney. Disney produces some of the best content in the world and we want to bring our viewers the best of both local and international content. Viewers can expect more incredible international movies and shows on their screens later in the year.” Marlon Davids‚ acting MD for e.tv’s Channels Division said in a statement.
The channel will kick off its coverage with several Marvel superhero films‚ which will air on the station during its blockbuster slot‚ every Sunday at 8pm.
In addition‚ the channel has secured the rights to the popular ABC studio series Devious Maids which will air from Monday June 13 at 8:30 pm.
The announcement comes only days after e.tv’s rivals‚ the SABC announced that it would be increasing its quota on local television content from July.
