Hawks bust several alleged drug dealers in Durban

The Hawks have arrested four suspects in Phoenix‚ Durban‚ for allegedly dealing in drugs.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 49.

The Hawks said on Sunday the intelligence-driven operation was aimed at curbing drug dealing in the city and its environs.

A search of a tavern had led to the recovery of various drugs‚ including rock cocaine and ecstacy tablets with an estimated street value of over R167‚000‚ they said.

 A total of R138‚780 in cash‚ suspected to be the proceeds from trading in drugs‚ was also seized in the raid.

 The Hawks also arrested a 47-year-old suspect in Chatsworth for allegedly dealing in drugs. The suspect was found in possession of various drugs‚ including 521 heroin capsules.

In Bayview‚ a 32-year-old suspect was also arrested for possession of drugs after being found with heroin‚ cocaine and mandrax‚ the Hawks said.

They added that the suspects would all appear in either the Durban or Chatsworth magistrates’ courts on Monday.
