Two men‚ both in their 20s‚ drowned in the Vaal River in Vereeniging on Saturday afternoon‚ paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by the local authorities.
“Upon arrival‚ ER24 were ushered down to the bank where they found the two bodies lying on the banks. Several church members had crowded around the scene.
“Paramedics assessed both men and found no signs of life. It was apparent that the men had been dead for some time. Both men were declared dead on the scene‚” ER24 said.
It said it was understood that both victims had been pulled out of the water by the SAPS Search and Rescue teams after they were reported missing.
“The details surrounding the incident are subject to the investigation of local authorities.”
