Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has lashed out at protesters who burn down schools and public buildings, labelling them as barbaric.

He said frustrated South Africans who go on the rampage over poor service delivery and municipal demarcation should rather turn their anger on the ANC and its buildings.

"You have even gone to the extent of burning schools. What a barbaric act, burning schools. In the same areas where you are burning schools, there are ANC offices. You never burn them. It's not the school that gave you demarcation; it's the ANC. Go to the ANC."

Malema was addressing a packed Gugulethu Sports Centre in Cape Town yesterday as part of promoting his party's manifesto for the coming local government elections.

Referring to residents in Vuwani in Limpopo, who burnt down at least 19 schools earlier this month in a protest against a new municipal demarcation of their area, Malema slammed those who burnt tyres and blockaded roads, but then voted for the same party that angered them in the elections.

"Not in the name of the EFF. We do not burn schools. We love schools. We protect schools.

"None of you must be found burning schools while wearing a beret of the EFF. It's an automatic expulsion," said Malema.

He said the same extended to public property, such as community halls and clinics.

"Redirect your anger somewhere else.a clinic has done nothing wrong," he said.

He encouraged protesters to barricade roads when protesting because "you need to threaten a bit".

Malema hit out at voters who claimed they were voting for Nelson Mandela when they voted for the ANC.

"Mandela is no more. Stop your Madiba thing. You are voting for Zuma. Stop lying to yourself. There is no Mandela that looks like this one, I mean by just looking at the head [Zuma].you can see this is not Madiba. Madiba knew how to read numbers."

Speaking about the City of Cape Town, he said oppression could be seen, touched and smelt as a city that had two nations - one in Camps Bay and the other in townships such as Gugulethu.

He said mayor Patricia De Lille said she did not have respect for black people in Cape Town.

"We must expose the racism of Cape Town. Patricia De Lille.she used to speak as if she loves black people, [but] she has got no regard for black people."
