ER24 said on Wednesday that two men “were lucky to have sustained only minor injuries” when the small aircraft they were flying in crashed in Midrand in the early hours of the morning.

SAPS provincial spokesperson Major Mac Mngomezulu said they had to make a forced landing after experiencing engine difficulties.

“Shortly before 4am‚ paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene near Kruger Avenue‚ where they found a small aircraft lying upside-down in an open veld near the airport‚” a statement said.

The two men‚ believed to be in their early 30s‚ who had been in the plane were “found walking around the scene”.

They were taken to Sunninghill Hospital for further assessment.
