Traffic officers arrested for alleged bribery

Four North West traffic officers were arrested on Friday on allegations of bribery and corruption.

The four officers‚ employed by the Tlokwe municipality‚ were arrested at their offices in Potchefstroom and are expected to appear at the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The arrests follow months of investigation by national anti-corruption unit members‚ according to a police statement. More arrests are expected in the effort to clean the image of the traffic fraternity.

This brings to more than 30 the number of traffic officers arrested since last year on allegations of bribery‚ fraud and corruption.
