A Diepsloot man was found with an illegal firearm stashed in his underwear.
The police were tipped off by a member of the community. The 32 –year-old man was arrested in extension eleven (11), an initial body search yielded no results. It was on a second thorough search that the police found the weapon, tucked in the suspects’ underwear
A loaded magazine was also found on the suspect.
The man will be charged with unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition. He is set to appear at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
This is not the first incident. Another suspect was arrested early in 2015 for house robbery, he was also found hiding a firearm inside his underwear. He has since appeared in court and the case against him is still sub-judice the police said in a statement.
