Philisiwe Twala-Tau was approached by robbers in a parking lot in the Sandton area on Monday night‚ Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tau’s office confirmed on Tuesday.
The mayor’s spokesperson Phindile Chauke‚ told EWN on radio that the mayor’s wife was not harmed‚ but “is traumatised by the incident“.
The robbers reportedly made off with some of her personal belongings.
Twala-Tau is CEO of Toti Capital‚ and has extensive working experience in the private and public sector backed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Management‚ a graduate Diploma in Municipal Governance as well as Masters Degree in Public Management.
She has held various Senior Management positions ranging from Director: Economic Empowerment at the Greater Pretoria Metropolitan Council‚ Executive Officer Economic Development‚ Executive Director: Community Development and Regional Director of the City of Johannesburg’s Region 3.
