PSL soccer player arrested for speeding

A PSL soccer player was arrested after he was caught driving at 173km/h in Johannesburg, said the Road Traffic Management Corporation on Saturday.

According to EWN, the unidentified soccer player was arrested on the Golden Highway in Johannesburg last night, without license plates on his car.

A number of arrests have been made since the start of the long weekend.

“There have been a number of arrests of people who were driving at high speed and this will include a very high profile soccer player who was arrested yesterday for driving at high speed with no number plates,” said Spokesperson Simon Zwane.

Johannesburg metro police department said a total of 24 motorists had been arrested for speeding on Johannesburg roads on Friday night.

"We had operations on the N1 in Midrand and Roodepoort," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

All those arrested were taken to the Midrand and Honeydew police stations.
