Larsen fired by task at Arrows

Clinton Larsen is excited about his new project at Lamontville Golden Arrows and has set his sights on getting to 30 points as quickly as possible.

The coach quit Bloemfontein Celtic a fortnight ago following a disagreement with management and has wasted very little time getting a new job, signing a contract until the end of the season with Arrows at the weekend.

Larsen will be hoping for better luck in KwaZulu-Natal this time after a horrible spell with Maritzburg United two years ago, which saw him get just one win in nine matches.

"I decided that this is the right project for me. I am very excited and so is my family," Larsen said.

"You know I am from this province and I was always hoping to come back and make a meaningful contribution here. Hopefully, I can do this with Golden Arrows.

"The chairlady [Mato Madlala] has not said what the expectations are. [But] I am experienced and I know what is expected of me, to play a good brand of football and win games."

Promoted after finishing top of the National First Division last season, Arrows made a solid start to the season under previous coach Serame Letsoaka, who ironically has gone the other way to join Celtic.

Abafana Bes'thende are currently in seventh place on 14 points.

Larsen's first game will be against Polokwane City at Chatsworth Stadium in two weeks, a club he lost to on the opening weekend of the season while at Celtic.
