Two Mozambiquan nationals were attacked by a group of men in Lenasia South on Sunday morning.

The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety‚ Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane‚ on Tuesday condemned the attack‚ which took place at the Hospital Hill informal settlement in Lenasia South.

“I am taken aback and appalled by the attacks on these two foreign nationals. This is disturbing noting that it is happening 21 years into our democracy. These are our brothers from different corners of the continent who are here to earn a living.

“I appeal to community members to rally behind the police to ensure that the perpetrators face the might of the law and our courts give them the harshest sentences possible. This will send a strong message to the would-be perpetrators that such atrocities cannot be tolerated in our country‚” said Nkosi-Malobane.
