SABC COO will soon be earning more the president, this is according to the parastals recent annual report.

Despite the ongoing court battle that could see the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) chief operations officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng suspended, the parastal has went on to give him almost a million Rand salary increase.

The annual budget which was, according to the Democratic Alliance (DA), tabled in Parliament on Wednesday reveals that Motsoeneng's salary has increased from R2 872 000 to a staggering R3 784 000.

Sowetan LIVE reported earlier this year thatPresident Jacob Zuma was the fourth highest paid president in the worldwith annual earnings of R2 750 000 (R2.75m).

As if the over R900million salary was not shocking enough, the SABC has went on to reveal that Motsoeneng will additionally receive a R280 000 annual bonus - taking his total earnings to just about R4million.

"It is significant that in 2014 the Public Protector found Motsoeneng guilty of unlawfully increasing his own salary three times in the space of one year. It appears that he is at it again," said the DA.

"It should be remembered that Motsoeneng was earning just R 334 000 as an SABC radio producer in 2010. Five years later and his salary has increased more than ten-fold. Must be nice to have friends in high places."

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were shocked when Sowetan LIVE posed the question to them as they were not aware. They have promised to get back to us with a comment.
