Car plunges off bridge‚ one person dead

One person was killed and another critically injured when a car plunged off a bridge into a ravine in Vereeniging late on Saturday night‚ ER24 emergency medical service reported.

“It is understood the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle and went off a bridge about 20 metres down eventually landing in a ravine.

“When ER24 paramedics and Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene they found the front of the vehicle in the ravine‚” ER24 said.

“The driver believed to be 19 years old was trapped in the vehicle. Sadly there was nothing paramedics could do for him. While Fire and Rescue Services were busy extricating the man from the vehicle paramedics treated the passenger.

“The passenger‚ believed to be 20 years old‚ was found to be in a critical condition. After stabilising the patient‚ paramedics transported him to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further medical care‚” the emergency medical service added.
