All match officials designated for Premier Soccer League and National First Division duty have passed the pre-season fitness tests‚ but the names of those who have been promoted onto the panel have not yet been released.

South African Football Association refereeing boss Peter Sejake said some “procedural issues” had to be followed before the names would be made public‚ but this would be done soon.

Still‚ a full house of fit referees for the new campaign is a boost to the refereeing community‚ who in previous years had been stalked by several high-profile failures in the physical tests which had dented overall morale.

In recent weeks‚ there have also been a bevy of appointments for South African officials in African club competitions.

Daniel Bennett‚ back to duty with the Confederation of African Football after injury problems‚ was in Algeria at the weekend to handle the African Champions League tie between holders Entente Setif and Sudanese club Al Merreikh. He had Zakhele Siwela on the line along with Yeo Songuifolo of the Ivory Coast.

Victor Gomes and Stevens Khumalo will be heading to Bamako next month to take charge of the African Confederation Cup Group A match between Stade Malien and Esperance of Tunisia.
