Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was no longer receiving intensive intravenous antibiotic treatment but would remain under observation in hospital for another few days‚ his daughter‚ the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu‚ said on Sunday.

She said the Nobel peace laureate was in good spirits when she visited the hospital on Sunday‚ and filled with gratitude for the care he was receiving and for the love and prayers of friends around the world.

Archbishop Tutu was admitted to a Cape Town hospital last Tuesday for treatment for a stubborn infection.

According to his daughter‚ the treatment was not related to the prostate cancer that he has been managing for the past 18 years.

The medication he was receiving for his prostate was effective and his PSA count was negligible‚ Reverend Canon Tutu said.
