Port Elizabeth police have made a breakthrough in Jayde Panayiotou’s murder case.

An arrest has been made and police were expected to hold a media briefing in the city on Thursday morning.

In a case that shocked the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro‚ Panayiotou was abducted outside her Kabega Park home last week.

Her body was found near KwaNobuhle Township in Uitenhage the next day.

A funeral service for Panayiotou was held on Tuesday at the Mater Dei Catholic Church in Newton Park – the same day PE police released an identikit of one of the suspects.

Police earlier this week said that several people believed to have knowledge of the abduction and murder of the much-loved Riebeek College teacher had been taken in for questioning following a week-long manhunt. — The Herald
