A domestic worker has disappeared with international model Tinyiko Mathusa's 18-month-old daughter.

Barbara Moyo has not contacted Mathusa for two days and her phone has been off since the model last spoke to her and her daughter, Trinity Beckford, on Tuesday at about 1pm.

A distraught Mathusa told Sowetan she had treated Moyo like family and booked her a flight home to Zimbabwe in December, the first time Moyo had been on an aeroplane.

"Can she just bring my child back, she can go do whatever she's doing," Mathusa said.

Mathusa described Trinity, who also does television adverts, as a very friendly child.

"I wish someone can call me and say come and fetch Trinity [because] Barbara is scared to come back," she said.

Mathusa, who now scouts for models, reported Trinity missing to police but Edenvale spokeswoman Constable Mokete Serakwana referred inquiries to Warrant Officer Jean Olkers, who could not be reached for comment.

Moyo started working for Mathusa, who travels extensively, in September last year after she responded to an advert posted at a local supermarket.

"She called me whenever she went out with Trinity and was never out with her later than 6pm," Mathusa said.

According to Mathusa, Moyo had told her she worked for a Nigerian family in Berea, Johannesburg, which she left because they did not pay her well.

But Mathusa denied she had a pay dispute with Moyo, saying she paid her more than other domestic workers and even gave her a R7000 bonus in December last year on top of the flight.

"I took her as a family member. I still believe she's a good person, maybe something happened."

A desperate Mathusa went to Moyo's church in Edenvale to look for her, but congregants familiar with her claimed they had not seen her since Sunday.

"She acted like a God-fearing woman," said Mathusa.

Mathusa has also not ruled out foul play after she was robbed on her way back from the Miss SA pageant last month by people who knew her name.

However, no one has called her demanding a ransom.

Now, the father of her child, an American, is not talking to her and is, instead, blaming her for their daughter's disappearance.

Mathusa believes Moyo is still in South Africa because although she took her own passport, she left Trinity's behind.

According to the Missing Persons Bureau, a child goes missing every five hours.

Missing Children SA said between December 2013 and November last year, 285 children went missing and only 219 were found.
