The public protector is investigating a R120 000 porn bill.

It was reported that Limpopo Legislature deputy speaker Lehlogonolo Masoga raked up a R120 000 cellphone bill in a month in which a big chunk of it allegedly comes from porn sites.

Instead of focusing on official duties during his trip to the United States, Masoga allegedly found other ways of occupying his time and hands.

Masoga said that the allegations levelled against him were part of a “smear campaign” on a baseless matter by people who have no facts.

“I reject with contempt the malicious, libellous and defamatory allegations levelled against me by some not-so-faceless conspirators to injure my integrity for cheap political motives,” he said.

In August 2014 Masoga was, according to City Press, part of a legislature delegation that went to the US on what has been described as an “economic trip” where the auspicious occurrence allegedly took place.

The bill was later settled by legislature.

The Public protector took up the investigation after the official who complained about the bill was suspended.
