Tributes for the late former national police commissioner Jackie Selebi have started pouring in.

Selebi died on Friday morning at the age of 64 after battling end-stage kidney disease brought on by diabetes.

Convicted fraudster and business man Schabir Shaik was one of those who paid tribute to the former head of Intepol.

“God has decided to take his life now and all we can do is remember him fondly. He was a sterling comrade, he was thorough and hardworking. Comrade Selebi was committed to the movement,” he said.

The Minister of Small Business Lindiwe Zulu told Power FM that the former police commissioner would be remembered him for ‘resoluteness, sternness and all the good work that he did’.

ANC secretary general shared his sadness at the passing of the former stalwart and also sent condolences to his family.
