Dear fans: please don't hurt me

RECUPERATING: Andile ka Majola signs autographs for fans at the Alberlito Hospital in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal

GOSPEL powerhouse Andile ka Majola nurses a swollen left knee after he was mobbed by excited fans at the weekend.

Ka Majola was in Jozini in northern KwaZulu-Natal when excited fans jumped on stage during his performance at an Aids awareness function.

The singer was rushed to the private Alberlito Hospital in Ballito, 300km away, where he was treated for his injuries.

A fortnight ago Ka Majola was voted the best gospel artist of the year and best male artist at the Crown Gospel Music Awards.

"When I was performing my third song, Uthixo Ngiyamvuma, they all went berserk," said the singer ,who is now back on his feet.

"Some jumped up and down on the stage, mobbing me. One man jumped on me with huge boots.

"I have never felt such pain. But I couldn't do anything because other people were still mobbing me, touching and taking selfies with me. As this was going on another lady stepped on the same leg.

"My nightmare came to an end only when the security guys came to my rescue.

"I couldn't go on to sing. Some in the crowd were angry when they were told that I could no longer sing because I had been hurt."

Ka Majola said he and his wife decided to go to hospital when they were travelling back home to Durban because "he could not take the pain any longer."

When he went to the hospital in Ballito, he says the funny part was when more fans mobbed him and wanted to take photos with him, not aware that he was hurt.

Even inside the hospital nurses caused a commotion and wanted him to sign autographs and take selfies with him.

Ka Majola said he limped out of the hospital the following day because he needed to attend a service to mark the beginning of the festive season with Durban mayor James Nxumalo.

"I am excited to know that my fans are happy about my success.

"But I'm begging them: Please don't hurt me!"
