Policeman arrested for car theft

A police officer was one of four people arrested for possession of a stolen car, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.

Four men, aged between 25 and 32, and including a police officer from Mitchells Plain, were arrested on Tuesday for possession of a stolen car, Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said in a statement.

The Chevrolet Optra was stolen from in front of a tavern in Strand on Tuesday evening.

The tracker company located the car in Khayelitsha with the assistance of the flying squad.

"They will appear in the Strand Magistrate's Court once they are charged."
