Investigations are currently underway at the SABC following multiple blackouts over the weekend.

All four of the national broadcaster’s channels including Channel 404 on DStv and SABC radio stationswent down for an hour on Saturday and for a couple of minutes on Sunday.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said that in order to not directly place blame on anyone in particular, they have decided to conduct the investigation that will unveil everything.

“It is difficult to answer any questions until we receive the investigation’s report as we really do not want to be blaming anyone,” said Kganyago.

Apart from multiple repeats and blackouts around midday on Saturday, there were complaints that there were continuous flashing of images and muffled sounds between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday.

People took to Twitter over the weekend to share their frustrations at the broadcaster for the multiple blackouts and cut-off during the show.

Karel Marais tweeted: “When you see these momentous stuff ups on SABC I wonder if the people pushing buttons are pissed or just not competent.”

Sharob Flax Waddington tweeted: “Someone please help the trainee creating havoc on 2.”

Garreth Van Zyl tweeted: “SABC news right now is prob [probably] the worst I’ve ever seen! SABC suffering a ‘power surge’ & they have a stuttering analyst talking etolls.”
