Former ANC Youth League Limpopo secretary Jacob Lebogo was granted R5000 bail in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Lebogo is accused of shooting and wounding current ANCYL leader Boy Mamabolo and three others at a Metro FM event in Polokwane on Sunday night. He faces four counts of attempted murder.

Mamabolo was taken to hospital in a serious condition, police spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said on Monday. The other three were treated and discharged.

Courtroom B was packed, with some people standing in the gallery. A private security firm had increased its manpower and conducted double searches before the public entered the court.

Lebogo handed himself to police on Tuesday and appeared briefly in court, where the matter was postponed.

Mamabolo is a former friend of Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema. Malema was expelled as ANCYL president and went on to form the EFF.

The case was postponed to November 14 for further investigation.
