Mpumalanga man fined for sex with chicken

A Barberton security guard has been slapped with a R500 fine after being found guilty of bestiality.

Sfiso Sambo admitted having sex with a chicken in an incident that took place in November 2013.

Sambo made the admission when he appeared in Court on 14 May 2014.

The case was brought to the attention of the SPCA in 2013 by the police who had called upon the animal welfare organisation for legal advice.

“Bestiality had taken place when a sexual act was performed on a hen. This violation of the bird had been so savagely inflicted that her intestines had become dislodged: - yet she was still alive when the SPCA arrived on the scene,” the NSPCA said in a statement.

The animal was later euthanised to prevent further suffering.

Magistrate Mhlanga of the Louw’s Creek Court in Barberton gave Sambo a fine of

R500 after finding him guilty in terms of the Animals Protection Act, 1962 and the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Offences) Amendment Act, 2007.
