Church fined four goats by Zuma's cousin

Jacob Zuma's cousin, Sibusiso 'Deebo' Mzobe has fined an Eshowe church four goats for disturbing his ancestors' peace, the Sunday Times reported.

According to the newspaper, Zuma's kinsman fined the Mbongolwane roman catholic mission after it burnt sugar cane on the northern KwaZulu-Natal farmland on which Mboze said his late polygamist grandfather and three wives were buried.

The fine was sought as an "appeasement" for disturbing the peace.

Bishop Xolelo Kumalo of the Eshowe Catholic Diocese told the newspaper that the presence of graves on the land came as a surprise.

"Culturally we respect the graves as the church," he said.

Kumalo said that Mzobe should have raised the matter with local chief Sithembiso Ntuli.

However, Ntuli told the Sunday Times that according to his research there were no graves on the land.

Nevertheless, he agreed that Mzobe should be given the land to "avoid any confrontation".

Mzobe declined to comment and referred questions to his family spokesman.
