A Zimbabwean man has taken his estranged wife to court over unpaid child maintenance.

According to dailynews.co.zw, Calisto Mapfumo has once again taken his wife to court for child support, this time for defaulting on payments.

He first took his estranged wife, Charity Chitsa, 30 to the maintenance court last year to claim $200 per month for their three children.

Following their separation in February last year Mapfumo who was left with their children decided to approach the courts to help him get child support from Chitsa.

In November, the court ruled in his favour and Chitsa was ordered to $60 per month for the welfare of the three children till each child turns 18.

According to court papers obtained by the news website, Chitsa is now $180 in arrears after failing to pay for 3 months.

“The company I used to work for was closed and I wrote three affidavits to that effect on December 12. I was advised that I was no longer going to pay anything,” Chitsa reportedly told the court in her defense.

The two are expected back in court on 27 February.
