Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor will be acting president during President Jacob Zuma's trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the presidency said on Tuesday.

Pandor would act in the position until Zuma's return on Wednesday, spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is in China for a bi-national commission meeting between the two countries.
