The dagga, worth about R1.2 million on the street, weighed 249kg.

A total of 13 bags of dagga were found hidden in the veld outside Okiep on Wednesday, Northern Cape police said.

Police discovered the bags on Tuesday after pupils doing a project in the area stumbled across them, said Lieutenant Sergio Kock.

The dagga, worth about R1.2 million on the street, weighed 249kg.

"Police suspect that the cannabis was destined for an area known as 'Mzala' in Okiep," said Kock
